Sean Sullivan Sean Sullivan has been the director of the Cleveland Heights Soccer Camp (Heights United Soccer Academy and Eastside Summer Soccer Camp) for 15 years. In that time he has coached and directed many players in the camp that have been recognized in the city, state and country including:
19 All Greater Cleveland 1st and 2nd Team players. 2 All Ohio players 2 All Americans 2 players who went on to play professional soccer. Bayard Elfvin - Goalkeeper for the US National Beach Soccer Team in 2007 The Heights United Soccer Academy prides itself on its "family" atmosphere. Players develop confidence from the age and talent appropriate functional drills and activities. All campers receive individualized and differentiated instruction designed to develop the "total" soccer player. "When I first came to camp, I didn't know much about soccer. I learned fun footskills that I now use in games." ~Keren - a talented, athletic 4th grader who never played soccer before. After one summer at HUSA/ESSC she made the Eastside Kicker's traveling team. | Athletic Coaching Accomplishments Coach Sullivan has been actively involved with youth sports in the city of Cleveland Heights for over 15 years. - Northeast Ohio Regional Head Coach for the 2006 Maccabi Games U-16 boys soccer team. Tournament held in Phoenix, AZ
- 2005 - 2008: Director of Coaching and Soccer Skills for the Eastside Kickers Soccer Club. Responsible for conditioning, skills and tactics for 14 competitive boys and girls teams ages U-8 to U-13.
- 2004 - 2008: Director of Coaching and Soccer Skills for the Cleveland Heights Recreation League soccer program. Responsible for restructuring the entire program resulting in a significant increase in numbers.
- Initiated the Cleveland Heights Advanced Soccer Skills Clinic housed at the Recreation Center. Designed to bridge players from recreation league to travel soccer. All four sessions over the past two years have been sold out.
- Owner / Proprietor of the Heights United Soccer Academy (Formerly the Eastside Summer Soccer Camp). Recognized as an "Outstanding Summer Camp" serving the Cleveland Heights soccer community for 15 years.
- Fall 2000 - Present: Head Coach of the Cleveland Heights Boys' Varsity Soccer.
- Sectional Champions 2000/2003 /2007 - District finalists 2003/2007.
- Spring 2004: Cleveland Heights High School Varsity Track Distance Running Coach.
- Spring 2003: Cleveland Heights High School Varsity Lacrosse Conditioning Coach.
- Fall 1998: Named Northeast Ohio Assistant Coach of the Year through GCSSCA.
- Winter 1996 - 2003: Founded ACES--Athletes Choosing Excellence in School. Volunteered after school tutoring program involving 4th and 5th graders and Heights High Athletes. Heights students volunteer their time after school to tutor and mentor Oxford Elementary School students.
Career Accomplishments During the year, Mr. Sullivan works as an accomplished fifth grade teacher at Oxford Elementary school. He began his career teaching first grade at Oxford in 1994. After 10 years in the primary grades, he made the jump to the intermediate grades. Career Accomplishments 2006-2008 Fifth grade teacher at Oxford Elementary. Active member in several school and district committees: Oxford Student Council Advisor, Director of intramural sports, Young Men of Oxford Advisor, Vertical Team Science advisor. 2004 - 2006: Fourth Grade Teacher at Oxford Elementary School. Active member of several school and district committees: Oxford Student Council Facilitator, Multicultural, Math/Science, Technology and Report Card Committee. 1993 - 2004: First Grade Teacher at Oxford Elementary School. 2004/2005/2006: Named to "Who's Who Among America's Teachers and Coaches" Less than 2% of educators named three or more times. 2003: Ohio PTA Cleveland Heights-University Heights District Educator of the Year. Spring 2002: News Channel 5 Teacher of the Week.: 'Making the Grade' Spring 1999 - 2000: Jennings Scholar: Recognizing Outstanding Ohio Teachers "I am deeply rooted in Cleveland Heights. I feel very proud to give back to the community that has given so much to me." - Accomplished 5k, 10k and marathon runner. 3 Cleveland Marathons and 2 New York City Marathon
- Graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education
- Played on the first Eastside Kickers soccer team established in 1983 under Coach Dick Dietrich
- Played varsity soccer for Cleveland Heights High School from 1985-1988 all three years making it to the District Finals
